Norman D. Peterson

Norman Peterson is the Director of Government Relations at Argonne National Laboratory. In this position, he interacts with governmental agencies and develops collaborations between industries, universities, and other organizations focused on leading-edge technology.

These collaborations have included projects with the State of Illinois, which utilize technology created at Argonne to enhance the development and expansion of companies in Illinois.

He is also responsible for the facilitation of laboratory agreements and interactions with governmental agencies and foreign research institutions. Previously, he served as the first Executive Director of the Governor’s Commission on Science and Technology for the State of Illinois.

Mr. Peterson has an MA in Urban Studies from Loyola University in Chicago, an MS in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a BA in Urban Studies from Elmhurst College. He has authored a number of articles and papers in the areas of technology transfer, strategic planning, and establishing effective collaborations.
