U.S. DOE Awards $3.7 Million to Lake Erie Wind Turbine Project

The Department of Energy has awarded $3.7 million to the Lake Erie Energy Development Corp. (LEEDCo) to continue engineering work on a proposed wind turbine project in Lake Erie. This will allow LEEDCo to continue with their offshore wind research program, and is the third grant they have been awarded for this project.

The wind research program is building a 20 megawatt wind farm situated in Lake Erie. This photograph shows the gathering of samples of the lake bed where LEEDCo wants to build the wind farm.
