Congratulations to CWRU’s Julie Renner, winner of the ECS Toyota Young Investigator Fellowship

The Electrochemical Society (ECS) in partnership with the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA), has named Julie Renner, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering at Case Western Reserve University a 2017 ECS Toyota Young Investigator Fellowship winner. She is one of only three scholars honored with this award. This fellowship provides $50,000 to support innovative electrochemical research in green energy technology to promote the development of next-generation vehicles capable of utilizing alternative fuels.

Renner’s research focuses on protein engineering, looking to develop innovative engineered materials that can serve as self-assembling templates for electrode components. This groundwork leads to application possibilities in fuel cells and electrolysis systems. ECS and Toyota are proud to support this out-of-the-box thinking and advancement in electrochemical research.
