Donald R. Schneider

Mr. Schneider has over 28 years of experience in the electric utility industry, all at FirstEnergy Corporation ─ the nation's fifth largest investor-owned electric utility. He has worked in both regulated and deregulated businesses and in fossil-fuel and alternative-source generation. He began his utility career serving in a variety of engineering and maintenance positions in the generation area.

Mr. Schneider is currently President of FirstEnergy Solutions, the unregulated retail energy subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corporation based in Akron, Ohio. FirstEnergy Solutions provides a diversified mix of coal, nuclear, hydro, and wind generation to customers throughout Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Prior to his present position, Mr. Schneider was appointed Senior Vice President of Energy Delivery and Customer Service in 2007. He has also served as Vice President of Commodity Operations as well as Vice President of Fossil Operations.

Mr. Schneider serves on the Board of Directors of the Boy Scouts of America – Great Trail Council, the Board of Trustees of Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron, and serves on the board of the Energy Industries of Ohio.

Mr. Schneider earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University, and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio. He completed the Kellogg School of Management's Advanced Executive Program at Northwestern University. Additionally, Mr. Schneider completed the executive seminar, “Strategic Leadership: Business & Public Policy Process,” presented by the Washington Campus in Washington, D.C., and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Reactor Technology Program for Utility Executives.
