Many of the students participating in the Great Lakes Energy Institute ThinkEnergy Fellowship Program this year attended the 2019 ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit in Denver, Colorado, July 8-10.  ARPA-E is the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency that is leading the way to develop advanced energy technologies.  The students learned of the wide variety of technical approaches in energy research from bio-systems to building efficiency to solar and wind systems.  Students were able to attend the technical and policy breakout sessions and network with the many ARPA-E performing organizations in the Technology Showcase.  The group also participated in a tour of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO.  The group met up with our own Marley Praprost, a researcher at NREL that recently graduated from CWRU and is a ThinkEnergy Alumnus.  Students attending the summit were Neil Chavan, Will Clarizio, Alberto Gonzalez, Adam Maraschky, Becca Segel, Ellen Walter, and Diana Zavela.  The group was led by ThinkEnergy Program Manager, Mark Haberbusch and supported by GLEI Administrative Assistant, Lisa Chalk. The group is shown above on the main stage of the event.
